No matter what your fiber fetish, The Yarn Shop by Rainy Day Creations has something in store to suit your fancy. What began as a shop catering to knitters has become a lovely little stop for fiber artists of every stripe — felters, weavers, spinners, even jewelry makers!
Celebration and Sale
September 9-13, come and see our new, larger shop and celebrate our expansion with a BLOW OUT YARN SALE featuring many yarns 30-40% OFF. Also, needles and accessories 10% OFF.

And on Saturday, September 13, come see local artisans and demonstrations of spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, and tatting. Enter to win a 12" Ashford Knitters Loom.

The Yarn Shop at The Yarn Show
Susan, Pat, Hattie & Cheri searched the halls and stalls of The National Needlearts Association annual trade show in Columbus, Ohio, and are returning with new yarns, new goodies, and lots of new ideas! Hattie kept us clued in to all the knitting celebs who walked past (that's Hattie with Vivian Hoxbro, who so liked how H looked in her Brenda jacket that Vivian took her own picture of our knitting diva!). Click here to see more photos from the show — though only one highlights any actual craftiness. And keep an eye out for all the new arrivals.
Knit some babes this summer
Knitted BabesHave a young person in your life who'd like a soft, hand-knitted babydoll? Knitted Babes features five babe patterns, each with her own wardrobe. Babes can be knitted in different yarn weights — DK-weight babes are shown in the photo at left. Babes offer a great way to use up stash and large leftovers. Thanks to Doris Joe for lending her girls for our photo shoot.
Charlotte Sock Yarn Champion?
Here at The Yarn Shop, we're thinking our collection of sock yarn is the largest among Charlotte-area yarn shops — with enough yarn to knit 100-150 pairs of socks! Choose among tons of self-striping and self-patterning yarn from a variety of vendors including Opal, Universal, Berroco and Trekking. Prefer to do your own colorwork? You'll find plenty of solids. Love luxury? Try handpainted yarns from Claudia Handpaints and Cherry Tree Hill, or The Alpaca Yarn Company's Paca Peds. You can even get started on those spring and summer socks with the cotton/spandex Fixation from Cascade, Plymouth's Sockotta, Schoeller+Stahl's self-patterning Sockina Cotton, or crab shell-infused Tofutsi. Let us know if you find a better selection!
I Hate Knitting Socks!!
"This was my usual response until I bought "Knitting Circles Around Socks" and with these easy to read instructions I've knit three pair in a month. Two socks at a time with two circulars. Now I love knitting socks!" — Susan

2 Socks on 2 Circulars
Requires two classes and materials—
Book: Knitting Circles Around Socks or 2-at-a-Time Socks
Yarn: 200 yds worsted weight yarn
Needles: 2 circular needles 16" and 24" to obtain gauge (#5 in most cases)
Nativity Knitting is underway!
Our Nativity Knitters have grown, but it's never too late to join in the fun! The morning group meets from 10a-12p on the fourth Wednesday of each month, with an evening group on the fourth Thursday of each month from 7-9pm — both creating one Nativity character a month. We started with Mary, then knitted our first sheep, and now we're on to Balthazar (a king). The group is free with the purchase of your Nativity kit, giving you a chance to enjoy a little Christmas throughout the year and finish your scene in time for the 2008 holiday season.
new website address
Want to tell a friend to check out our website? In addition to our regular web address, we've added a new one that's easier to remember (and pass along). Just type in www.knittingincharlotte.com and you'll end up right here!

Come see us!
After visting us online, make plans to visit us in person. You'll find us in the heart of "old downtown" Pineville, one of the Charlotte area's favorite antiquing centers (click here for directions).

We look forward to seeing you soon!
