the yarn shop at the yarn show
The trip to Columbus is well-started with a stop at the Coldwater Creek outlet, just off I-77 in West Virginia.
Good food is essential to sustain the hard work of yarn shopping. The first night: dinner in Columbus' famous German Village at Schmidt's Sausage Haus und Restaurant.
Click here for a YouTube video of the oom-pah band playing James Brown (you have to listen closely — we were at the back of the room)!
Publishers like to tout their new books at the show, and we were glad to stand in line for signed copies. Hattie & Cheri pose here with the delightful author of the oh-so-useful Knit Speak, Andrea Berman-Price.
Here's the crafty picture! On the way home, Hattie's crocheting the edge of a lovely flannel baby blanket — a great new kit we'll soon be carrying, and a terrific way to start to learn crochet! The kit includes a hemstitched (ready for adding a crocheted edge) blanket and burp cloth, two balls of crochet thread, a crochet hook, easy-to-follow instructions for right- and left-handers, all in a box that's designed for gift-wrapping your completed baby gift! The kit will retail for around $30, and gives busy women a great way to create a lovely, handmade item in just a few hours!
Come see us soon to check out all the new ideas and fun stuff!
